TIMEFUL WEB & DESKTOP APP
Timeful is looking forward to expanding to platforms beyond iOS. One of our first experiments is Timeful's web application (currently live in beta), and the desktop application (not yet in beta).
The beta web application is a straightforward adaptation of Timeful for a desktop experience. It optimizes for inputting a large number of tasks into Timeful at once by providing keyboard and typing shortcuts.
This project was a quick 2-week design sprint in August 2014.
I was responsible for product, interaction, and visual design. I then worked closely with two front-end engineers who built the beta application over the course of a few weeks.
I focused on two goals in this quick sprint:
1. Adapt the current iOS application to a desktop experience.
We didn't want to spend too much time rethinking the application for this beta experiment. So, I created a basic version of our app that we can build on in the future.
2. Optimize for quick keyboard entry of new tasks.
The main reason for creating a desktop version of Timeful was to facilitate easy entry of new tasks--a common request from our users at the time.
Therefore, I worked on creating a natural keyboard-driven interaction of the app.
Beta Icon on Desktop
For fun, I created a beta desktop icon for our internal use.
The tilted rectangle echoes the form of Apple's productivity desktop app icons for the Mavericks OS.
The blueprint background references a style Apple uses for development and beta applications.
Below are samples of the visual, layout, and interaction details for the web application.
